Thank you all for your input. I agree, the sentence is awful..:( Above the sentence are listed 'købesum' (goodwill/inventar) and 'købesummens berigtigelse'. Then comes the awful sentence (which, you're right Sampat, isn't a real sentence per se but I wrote sentence because it occurs between two full stops! Unfortunately, the document is a couple of years old and my client doesn't speak English and is here in Canada. I'll ask the client for permission to contact the Danish lawfirm that originally produced the contract. It looks like the 'buyer' is also the lease holder. In this case, he is leasing large premises and is buying one of the stores that operates therein. Does that make sense? TAK!

L&H Business Ordbog Dansk-Englesk and Gyldendal Dansk Englesk Ordbog give 'purchase price' as the English translation of 'købesum'. Since I presume it is a lease-purchase, 'purchase price' is not totally out of place.

In UK English at least, you wouldn't say "purchase price" if talking about a rent/lease payment.

I did think of a deposit first, but that would be called a depositum.
Splitting hairs, and maybe that is another source of confusion in the sentence, but it might be significant.
