Danish term or phrase: til en måneds udgang
Sentence given:
"Opsigelse skal ske skriftligt til en måneds udgang."

I am not totally sure about this. Does it mean that written notice needs to be given at the end of the month, or that a one-month written notice is given? (Not the same thing).

with effect from the end of a month
Explanation:
Basically you can give notice at any time, provided it is long enough, but it normally takes effect at the end of a month.

You may have to give several months´ notice in many cases, but it is fairly standard that it takes effect on the last day of the month.

Then wages, tax and so on can be calculated in whole months.

(notice of dismissal) effective/(lease: notice to quit expiring) at the end of a month

Explanation:
A different way of looking at Christine's answer. Notice must be given on one date, say mid-month, to operate at the end of the following month.

Compare in DE, as in the 2nd web ref: zum...Datum or aufs Ende des Monats kündigen

TT previously known as Kirsty McC.

Example sentence(s):
  • Please confirm in your lease the amount of prior notice required. Notices to vacate must comply with the lease term expiring at the end of a month not the middle of a month.
