Har du mere kontekst? Ovenstående er kun et forslag. Jeg tror ikke, at der er tale om én bestemt afdeling på et hospital; det kan være en hvilken som helst afdeling, afhængigt af patientens sygdom/lidelse/tilstand. Og det kan jf. nedenstående være en afdeling i et større sygehussystem.

Jeg har fundet flg. definition fra et lokalt dansk hospital:

Afsluttet fra Afd. D
Ved mistanke om recidiv eller progression udredes patienten på lokal stamafdeling.
Ved behov for onkologisk vurdering kan patienten genhenvises til Onkologisk Afdeling.
Ved lokal stamafdeling forstås den hospitalsafdeling, i hvis optageområde patienten er bosiddende. Lokale forhold afgør fordelingen mellem medicinske og kirurgiske afdelinger (Randers og Silkeborg).

Efter at have tænkt over termen i et stykke tid tror jeg faktisk, at der kan ligge to betydninger af stamafdeling: 1) den afdeling, som indlægger/behandler en patient, og 2) den afdeling, som har sendt en patient videre i systemet. Mit forslag går primært på førstnævnte, mens Blangsteds går på det andet, men dit endelige valg må afhænge af den yderligere kontekst.
