Det var først efter et stykke tid, at jeg vænnede mig til at bruge 'først' på den måde på dansk.
Or, as Nudansk Ordbog explains it:

If a breach of the rules does not come to xxx's knowledge within two days after the end of the match...
If xxx the breach of the rules is first brought to xxx's attention more than two days after ...
It often quite a neat construction, and may need some reformulating to render it in idiomatic English.
