Explanation:
In auditing, the client's management is sent a so-called management letter outlining any shortcomings/deficiencies in the accounting [system/procedures] and advice to improve things.
In this context, any backlogs observed in any part of the accounting will be highlighted and recommendation(s) of [how to] clear the backlog(s) will be put forward.
In this context, an 'inhaalslag' is an attempt/effort to clear such a backlog.
