this is a property developer. although I understand the general idea of "cash coverage" - I would like some clarification esp. for overdekking. excess cash coverage ?

Het absolute niveau van de algemene kosten werd binnen de begroting gehouden.
De dekking op basis van de gefactureerde omzet liet een overdekking van ruim 7% zien ten opzichte van de algemene kosten.

excess coverage
Explanation:
Not an expert, but this might do the trick.

The reference below is based on an insurance context. Don't have time to google this extensively right now, I'm afraid.

UNIT OWNERS' EXCESS COVERAGE
This type of insurance expands your insurance coverage to include damage or loss to alterations, fixtures, and mprovements within individual units owned by the unit owner, caused by the insured perils. This includes damage to air conditioners, clothes washers, clothes dryers, cooking ovens, cooking ranges, dishwashers, floor coverings, countertops, kitchen cabinets, refrigerators, and freezers.

This coverage applies only as excess insurance over any other valid and collectible insurance that would apply in the absence of this policy.

Notes to answerer
Asker: the context is accountancy - so the alternatives are apparently overabsorption or excess cash coverage - I suppose they are not the same thing
