Positive connotation 11:32 Aug 14, 2010
Well, for one (and most importantly) "symptoomreclame" has a negative connotation, like "symptoombestrijding," whereas raising symptom awareness sounds to me like it's a good thing to do.
Second, the phrase "campaigns to raise symptom awareness" sounds like a bit of a long version of "symptoomreclame" and although that works as a header here, the word "symptoomreclame" occurs a million more times in the text and translating it as "campaigns to raise symptom awareness" will get boring very quickly.
Third, I imagine there must be a standard phrase in English for this, I'm sure the issue has been discussed outside The Netherlands. I just can't find it. |
