Dutch to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Advertising / Public Relations / Ships
Dutch term or phrase:Stille verkoop
Bvd.
Explanation: See the additional context provided by the asker in the discussion entries. It means the agent approaches potential buyers direct rather than advertising the vessel publicly.
Sorry, not the web-hosting company, but the company that owns the website. Certain buyers will express an interest in a certain type of vessel, and the company may have such a vessel available that is not publicly visible on the website, because its owners do not want to make public that they are selling it.
I see your point. It seems I wasn't very clear at first, in my question. The vessels are not actually placed ON the website, but rather presented to the company hosting the website. The extra context I provided in the discussion is correct.
I have read the context and it is clear that the ships are "geplaatst" on the website. It's probably just a listing of ship types and tonnages, to which potential suppliers can react. So "unadvertised sale" and "unlisted sale" are wrong IMO. The only "long" workaround I can think of is "Summary list of items for sale".
The reason I googeled advertised sale is because it does not sound right. It turns out there is not one example where it does not mean sold at a discount. That is not good here.
You could help us by (a) giving the full context and (b) telling us in Dutch what it means, as you presumably know but just don't know how to say it in English.
Explanation: I think "silent sale" does not fully match what is meant. Here it obiviously concerns the sale of ships, without initial publication of the owners, for obvious reasons.
