Explanation:
From a bit of googling, 'grondgebonden' appears to mean something like 'constrained by local conditions and resources' or 'using only locally available resources' (although not to the extent of being self-reliant), and in a certain sense it is the opposite of 'intensive' (agriculture, livestock farming, etc.).
There are also google hits in a non-farming context that suggest that 'grondgebonden' can mean something like 'locally-based'.

A variety of translations seem to be available. Some sample google hits (of which IMO 'soil-bound' is inappropriate in the context in which it appears):

Vanuit mijn ervaring als VS correspondent van het Agrarisch Dagblad: Vermoed dat het gaat om bedrijven/gewassen die afhankelijk zijn van de grond (vergelijk geestgronden achter de duinen die goed zijn voor bloembollen -- althans dat heb ik op de lagere school geleerd).
