Explanation:
Slechts wat info: wellicht is het woorddeel kuil niet de meest gelukkige keuze

Het betreft meestal zo'n lange slurf die op het land ligt, in plaats van in de grond. In de begintijd (1900?) groef men vaak een kuil, omdat luchtdicht afsluiten moeilijk was zonder plastic. Momenteel legt men ze, zoals gezegd gewoon op het land, of steeds meer op een betonnen ondergrond. In een poging verleden en heden aan elkaar te fietsen. wordt ook het ietwat onlogische woord kuilhoop gebruikt. Het voeder (vaak gras, mais of restproducten van bijvoorbeeld de suiker- of bierfabrieken: bietenpuntjes respectievelijk bierbostel) wordt vervolgens afgedekt met een laag plastic en daarop zoals titi zegt banden, maar ook vaak grond. Bij het voederen moet je natuurlijk deze grondlaag verwijderen om het voeder in de stal te kunnen brengen. Voor het verwijderen van deze deklaag heeft men inderdaad machines ontworpen. Volgens mij gaat het daarom in jouw tekst. Overigens kan het vormen van zo'n kuilhoop inderdaad belastend zijn: bij natte voeders, zoals snijmais, pulp en dergelijke kan een te hoge concentratie sappen in de grond dringen waardoor de grond verzuurt. Wordt vaak opgelost door de betonnen ondergrond van de kuilhoop te draineren op de mestkelder.

neutral titi@home: Klopt allemaal. Er is echter wel een verschil in het doel van het inkuilen. Gehakselde mais, klaver en gras gaan fermenteren. Daar komt die zure lucht vandaan. Als je bieten of wortels opkuilt of inkuilt gebeurt dit niet (bescherming tegen de vorst).
