Explanation:
Een pothuis is de lage uitbouw aan de voorzijde van het huis, dat een deel van de voetstraat in beslag nam. Oorspronkelijk was het doel ervan een aparte toegang te hebben naar het sous-terrain, de keuken en de kelders. Een ander woord voor pothuis = kelderwoning, dat woord staat in de VD genoemd als basement flat
