Architecture
Dutch term or phrase: leizijde
I am currently working on a short architectural translation and am struggling with the above term.

The context is as follows:

De gevels zijn onder 45º geplaatst om zoveel mogelijk bewegende lucht op te vangen en te circuleren door middel van het luchtdrukverschil tussen lei- en loefzijde, met behulp van individueel verstelbare louvre-ramen.

All suggestions welcome - KudoZ points will be awarded within 72 hours.

Many thanks,

Pikey

lee, leeward, downwind side
Explanation:
Apparently a misspelling or dialectical spelling (I done't know which) of lijzijde.

neutral  Fred ten Berge: Fully agree about the misspelling! Most likely the three above translations are excellent for sailors and wind surfers. These terms will be less clear to architects and many other readers , not familiar with such specific sailing terminology.

agree  Chris Hopley: To Fred: although you may know the term from sailing, this is not purely a sailing term.

Explanation:
No doubt there is a spelling mistake in Dutch.
The spelling 'leizijde' is not used in any dialect in Belgium or the Netherlands.

One of your best references is in the 'Grote van Dale'.
Though their example refers to trees, no doubt this is the most explanatory and illustrative rendering in respect of buildings as well.
