agree  Agnes Douwes: Klopt helemaal, ik heb een (hele mooie!) "smoke fired" pot uit Arizona. Het lange rookproces produceert unieke kleureffecten. (Added: Meer weet ik ook niet ..:)

  -> ik ben een 'arts and crafts' 'know-nothing'. This was pure language-based research. must be nice to know something about it. I do know that pottery is baked in a kiln but didn't know there were different ways to do it.

agree  Tina Vonhof: smoke-firing is not done in a kiln but in a pit in the ground. The pots are buried in straw, sawdust, or other smoke-producing materials.
