See below: Explanation: From the context it would appear that the appropriate English term here is: to sub-contract on a cost-plus basis. Other possibilities are: "Regie-opdracht" = engagement under the principal's management; "Werken op regiebasis" = to operate on a cost-plus basis; "Werken onder regie uitvoeren" = cost-plus contracts [overall direction and financial commitments rest on the principal]. to contract out Explanation: <jarry> gives very good background. However, since they are talking about software training, it is not production, which can be contracted on a cost-plus basis. Here it seems to simply mean contracting out the training to an outside company. Van Dale |

Outsource Explanation: could be an alternative here. I would tend to disagree with "words", however, on the use of contract out, which has a meaning similar to "opt out". The Oxford Dictionary accordingly defines "contract in or out" as: choose to be involved in (or withdraw or remain out of) a scheme or commitment. This seems to be a case of source language interference ("uitbesteden"). My Van Dale does not list the translation suggested by "words". |
