Internet portal Explanation: I have reached the same conclusion as Jarry, for talking about zuilen, we are talking about pillars and that leads to the idea of a portal - |

Pay Internet Terminal Explanation: In Nijmegen, wear I used to live until 1999 they were experimenting with Public Telephone like terminals that you would find on pillars on street corners, shopping centers and railway stations were you could browse the internet after paying a connection fee. They would have a small LCD screen. I never used them and therefore do not recall how you would navigate them (keypad, gameboy like buttons). They were not a big success and I haven't been in the Netherlands since 1999 so I don't know whether they still exist. It is however not an Internet Portal. That's called with an angliscisme a Internet-portaal. I suggest Pay Internet Terminal. I am sure that you can find better English with this explanation. |

I think Wim is quite right Explanation: A Google search produced the following site: http://www.agriholland.nl/nieuws/1998/33/1672.html which backs Wim's explanation. |
