Hello there. Can someone please tell me what the difference is between the two... Here is the context:
4 zendenota's dienen to worden gevoegd, waarop de gegevens van de bestelling voorkomen met ***bestel- en ordernummer*** - aren't they exactly the same thing? i.e. order number....

Explanation:
Why would someone use synonyms, unless there was a reason. The "bestelnummer" is the product number for which an order is placed. That is my reading.

you could also maybe say delivery number or invoice number if that suited the text that you're translating. Though bestel and ordernummer are to all intents and purposes the same thing!

Antoinette Verburg: Van Dale: 'bestelnummer' = 'nummer uit een prijscourant enz. waarmee men de daarmee aangeduide zaak kan bestellen', 'ordernummer' = 'nummer van een bestelling'. Dit lijkt dus te kloppen... maar 100% confidence is wat overdreven.
