Dutch to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Business/Commerce (general) / Business admin.
Dutch term or phrase: vergoed
This occurs at the end of a brief report on the appointment of company directors at a general meeting of the company's shareholders. The final sentence reads: "Er wordt besloten dat het mandaat van voormelde Bestuurders niet zal worden vergoed." What's the exact meaning here of that last word? According to my Dutch-English dictionary, "vergoeden" means to make good, repay, compensate or reimburse, but how does this apply when the object is "mandaat"?

Or does it perhaps mean that the position of director is to be unpaid?

Explanation:
or as you said, in this case, it will be unpaid. This is actually quite standard practice, where board members are sometimes only paid to attend a meeting, but their actual position as a board member is not compensated.
