paid back

Explanation:

So you get an advance, and it is paid back out of the earnings from your book, CD, or whatever.

neutral  Ronald van Riet: "paid back" only if actual money is transferred, most of the time a "voorschot" is not physically paid back but deducted from moneys due

settle

Explanation:
might work?

Example sentence(s):
  • You can choose to settle the advance by paying us the balance of what you owe.
  • ...and use the proceeds of sale to settle the advance made to the buyer.
