Dutch term or phrase: afschakeling interessent wordt
Op basis van deze informatie kunt u inkomsten genereren door restvolume te verkopen. Of kunt u overwegen tegen welke prijs afschakeling interessant wordt.

Can anyone help with "afschakeling interessant wordt"? I can't find a meaning for "afschakeling". I think the verb "afschakelen" may mean "to get rid of" but am not sure.

opting out
Explanation:
Without more context - I'd say this was a fair bet - sounds like to opt out at a certain price would be advantageous.

instead of interesting, perhaps \"worthwhile considering\" would be worthwhile considering....;-)

-> it could just as well be opting out from the choice to sell surplus electricity Egon, so my advice to Tracey is to establish this later in her text or to contact client - nobody can say here for sure.

agree  Fred ten Berge: Not the slightest doubt in my mind that this does NOT concern electricity! // With due respect, of course, isn't "worth while considering" rather far fetched, considering the simplicity of the last two words of this question? // "opting" far better!!

disconnection ... becomes an interesting option

Explanation:
Even though there is no context (!) my wild guess would be that this has something to do with windmills and generating your own electricity, the way farmers do in the Netherlands.

If a surplus of electricity is generated, you can either sell that surplus (restvolume verkopen) or you might consider to disconnect your farm from the electrical grid altogether.

In view of the fact that the text is really about the production of energy ... be it energy generated by windmills or otherwise ;-) ...
I would take the word \"afschakelen\" literally: \"to switch off\", or \"to disconnect\".

Do they intend to disconnect their facilities entirely from the local power grid and sell the entire amount of electricity they have generated (not just the surplus) to someone else? They just might, if there\'s any profit in it for them! Further context might clarify that ...

\"op de markt aanbieden\" and \"verkopen\" are the same thing (strictly speaking \"op de markt aanbieden\" is: \"to offer for sale\" while \"verkopen\" is \"to sell\"). The former is mostly used for companies, the latter for individuals trying to sell something.

-> Thanks! "I'm Dutch - I like my country very much" - by the way, the text is about electricity/energy companies allright - asker said so herself ;-)
