bending moment

Explanation:
Not strictly my field, but the information below appears plausible. Confirmation should be fairly straightforward...

-> "Opneembaar moment = weerstandsmoment [m3/m] × minimum vloeispanning [kN/m2] (exclusief veiligheidscoëfficiënt) "
http://www.arcelorprojects.com/NL/calculation2.htm
-> "Bending moment = elastic section modulus [m3/m] × minimum yield strength [kN/m2] (without safety factor)"
http://www.arcelorprojects.com/EN/calculation2.htm

-> "Voor deze balk kan het ‘uiterste opneembaar moment’ bepaald worden, ofwel Mu. Dit wordt ook wel de inwendige momentcapaciteit genoemd."

IATE: opnemen = withstand [engineering]

I don't know whether either of these articles will help but you don't give a lot of context. Moment will obviously be "moment" in English in the constellation of torque. The question is what is opneembaar in your context. My thoughts are around "take-up" possibly of slack, but it could also be around capacity or even recording, e.g. recordable moment. More context could give us a clue.

Could it be plastic moment? Try searching plastic moment of resistance or fully plastic moment or plastic moment of a section. I supply one reference:

Asker: Thanks Textpertise for these references. FWIW, I actually prefer the full links (as long ones are truncated by proz with "..." anyway) so as to see where the reference comes from before actually clicking on it. Also helps to pick the most "interesting" or "plausible" link when a series are given. Tinyurl is fine for twitter :)

neutral  Ron Willems: don't know anything about the term, but a tip. you could check out tinyurl.com, they offer a convenient url shortening service. i've generated a short url which is equivalent to your first long link: http://tinyurl.com/yz3gtxh (took me 5 seconds)

  -> Thanks, Ron that's very handy to know and I didn't know it before although I've seen you do it a couple of times ;-)
