Dutch term or phrase: grendelafsluiter
Aan de westelijke zijde bemerken we een opbouw koudwaterleiding met 2 grendelafsluiters met schroefkop zonder afsluitdop.

This word has me foxed. I'm having difficulty even visualising what this could be. This is a Belgian text so perhaps it's a word used only in Flemish. Google produces websites about guns (grendelafsluiter) and (bolt valve) about car engines. Any help would be much appreciated.

latch valve
Explanation:
I think what is meant here is a (shut-off) valve "afsluiter" that is constructed with a latch "grendel", a common construction for piping.

agree  Peter van der Hoek: latched valve sounds more natural (to me at least)

-> Thanks, although "latched valve" would rather indicate it has a latch attached /to/ it, not necessarily part of the actual function or construction.

Reference information:
After som googling, I still haven't found anything and I have not got any more time. But I started thinking along the lines of a latch lock for a waterpipe, and found a picture of some latch pipes. Not sure if it will help. Good luck.
