Tech/Engineering - Construction / Civil Engineering / Not finding English equivalent for Dutch construction term ...
Dutch term or phrase: stortzijde
Colleagues ...

The term "stortzijde" does not come up in Van Dale electronic EN-NL, no entries in the ProZ databases come up for the term, and I have not found the Web helpful except for "stortzijde" being called out as the sheet covering the back side of a set of stairs as shown on the following graphic: http://www.nehobo.nl/beton/trappen/images/stortzijde-oranje.... .

The context is:

"Tolerances oppervlak stortzijde"

Your help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks !

pouring side

Explanation:
I hazarded a one-to-one translation and it might fit the bill. The English descriptions of 'pouring side' seem to match the images and descriptions found of 'stortzijde', and it seems to mean nothing other than 'the side from which the concrete was poured in a form', versus the 'kistzijde' which is the inside of the form. This also seems to have something to do with which side you'd apply grout to, but as you can see, I'm really starting to get lost here!
Hope it may be of some use.

unformed surface

Explanation:
Concrete elements have two basic surfaces - formed (bekiste zijde) and unformed (stortzijde) - depending on the position of the formwork (shuttering). The tops of walls, beams and floors are usually unformed and will have different tolerances.
