I have seen: http://www.proz.com/kudoz/dutch_to_english/construction_civi... but that text was about "cable conduits".

My text, or at least the part where the term appears, is about sewers and rainwater drains.

The original terms are confusing, because in my Van Odenhove, "Bouwkunde" there is no such term. There is a "valpijp" which sometimes is also translated as a "flush pipe". The thing that gives it away is "stijgstuk" (again a misnomer) which I think refers to a "stijgleiding" => which is a "riser". By the way a "downpipe" is an "afvoerpijp" in NL => a drainage pipe, and thats what the context refers to. I hope that explains it

neutral  Jack den Haan: But asker should have posted this as separate questions. // I was too quick to agree Alexander. On second thoughts, I think height adjustment pieces (or something like that) may be more appropriate.
