Zalf van groene bloemkool?!
Als je trendy uit de hoek wilt komen, probeer dan eens een ‘zalf’ van groene bloemkool om de smaak echt naar boven te halen. Kook de roosjes tot ze gaar zijn en leg ze dan onmiddellijk in ijswater om af te koelen. Daarna alles malen met een klontje boter en room, en kruiden. Zo krijg je een zalf van groene bloemkool waarmee je het bord mooi kunt versieren. Je legt nog een roosje bovenop de zalf **om de groene bloemkool zelf te laten zien.**

A literal translation doesn't mean much. You can see where they're going, but something like 'so people can see what they're eating' doesn't sound very good!

I've decided to opt for something like 'Garnish with a green cauliflower floret for ease of identification' so this was the nearest, and avoids the slight 'its' hiccough. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and a special mention for writeaway - surely there should always be room for brainstorming on a site like this?? Especially in non-technical contexts where there's no exact equivalent. Best way to come up with the optimum solution!

Explanation:
I think that you are missing the point. Na de zalf aan het rand van het bord gesmeerd te hebben moet je wel EEN BLOEM van de groene bloemkool op het zalf zetten zodat de gasten uit kunnen maken dat het zalf met de groene bloemkool gemaakt is.
M.a.w. je kunt best zeggen " so that people will know that it is made of ..."

Asker: No, I've not missed the point. That's exactly how I interpret it and exactly what 'so people can see what they're eating' implies.

Asker: Now I think you're missing the point ;-) Romanesco is sometimes known as Romanesco broccoli but it's definitely cauliflower we're talking about here. http://www.specialtystreet.be/new/website/pages/en/producten/g_en_p_bloemkool.html

it's marketing so imo you have to get away from the Dutch and find a snappy way to get the idea across in En (clearly why the question was posted in the first place :-) )

Let people see. . Leave a trace, demonstrate, proud(ly) display, make it clear, illustrate, leave no doubt(s), show off, reveal ....
