Dutch to English translations [PRO] Cooking / Culinary | | Dutch term or phrase: Gekookte krielaardappeltjes | Dutch to English (U.K. English)
“Gekookte krielaardappeltjes” is a term that was originally posted to the Spanish to English forum and was originally translated from Dutch into English as “Boiled potatoes tailings”, and subsequently changed to “small boiled potatoes”. “Tailings”, although it may exist, is to the best of my knowledge a rather uncommon term, and I believe deals more with a form of food preparation (i.e. cutting and tailing).
I am trying to ascertain what the correct English version really is for “Gekookte krielaardappeltjes”. Unfortunately, I do not speak or understand Dutch, so UK English please!
Many thanks in advance. |

| | Boiled baby new potatoes | Explanation: If not pan fried, these tiny new potatoes can be boiled (and served with some melted butter)

There is a difference between new potatoes and baby new potatoes. I used to live in the U.S. and had a hard time finding the really tiny ones. In the Netherlands they are very popular.

I tried to find some images of the baby new potatoes. On this website is one where you can see the difference in sizes: http://foodgang.com/potatoes.html |
