>> balohan: het gaat om een uitstap naar zee, in de bossen, naar een paardenhoeve voor verschillende dagen. Men blijft meerdere dagen ter plaatse en doet vooral activiteiten in verband met het thema (zee, bos, paard). <<

In that case I stick to my answer: (school) excursion, (school) trip. :)

agree  Elwing: I think you are correct:"used for nature courses"etc.
1 hr
  -> thanks Elwing

agree  Adam Smith: Although you'd probably want to avoid using "horse course" in this context! :-)

  -> :)

agree  Tina Vonhof: in English it would be 'courses about xxx'
3 hrs
  -> I would say 'courses on XX'

agree  Adela Van Gils: yes

neutral  Paul Peeraerts: I think you don't understand the original, Luuk. "Bosklassen" are not courses about woods and "zeeklassen" are not courses about the sea.

  -> You are right! Perhaps something like "sea-related activity and education programme" would be better? It does not exactly sound pretty though...

disagree  HannaTheuwen: 'bosklas' is rather an event than a course
4 days
  -> 'sea-related events', is this better?

agree  Stefan de Boeck: school trip. you apparently have to live in Belgium to understand the word at all.

  -> Thanks. A "course" takes place in a classroom in my point of view, whilst a "trip" or "excursion" is in the field (hence, outside the classroom).

  -> Perhaps "bosklas" is a Flemish expression rather than a Dutch one...
