Dutch term or phrase: educaties

In a text I'm doing on "education for sustainable development" they
talk a lot about "educaties". I've been saying educational fields up
to now. Does anybody have any better ideas please?
The "educaties" are where the educational authorities want education for sustainable development (a UN inititative) to be reflected

Explanation:
From what I've seen it seems that educaties (which I think is an awful word, but then again I'm not a part of that community) is mostly used as a synonym for opleidingen, but with a slightly wider meaning, i.e. not just about increasing knowledge but also awareness. In that sense it can be part of an opleiding but also consist of several opleidingen.
