Dutch term or phrase: propedeuse behalen
Deze term is nodig voor op een getuigschrift dat wordt uitgereikt aan studenten die de propedeuse succesvol hebben afgerond.
Pauline Sleven
English translation:propaedeutic year, first year of a degree programme
Explanation:
Nuffic's higher education glossary discourages the use of 'foundation year' as a translation of propedeuse:

-> "Do not use the term 'foundation year' because this is used in many countries for a preparatory year, whereas in the Netherlands the propedeuse is part of the degree programme."
http://www.nuffic.nl/glossary

Personally, I think this is good advice. See, for example:

-> "The University of Queensland Foundation Year prepares international students for entry into the first year of all undergraduate courses at The University of Queensland (UQ) in Brisbane, Australia."
http://www.foundationyear.com/`

-> "If you do not have the appropriate subject background for direct entry to first year, or you have not studied the appropriate subjects to the required depth, (which may be the case if you have followed a 12-year education system), you might be eligible to undertake a foundation year course to bring you up to the right level for first year entry.

This is a bridging course designed to provide you with the appropriate academic background for study at Bachelor degree level"
