Dutch to English translations [PRO]
Education / Pedagogy / HBO-opleiding
Dutch term or phrase: instructie
"Bij sommige colleges hoort ook een *instructie*. Je oefent dan, in een kleine groep, de collegestof aan de hand van opgaven."

Translating this as 'instruction' doesn't sound right. Suggestions? RSVP ASAP. TIA! Cheers, R.

cooperative learning

Explanation:
I am not sure why they call it 'instructie' and explain it as they do.

I think cooperative learning might work, unless you think it's too specific:

"Cooperative learning is the instructional use of small groups so that students work together to maximize their own and each other's learning."
http://www.ntlf.com/html/lib/bib/92-2dig.htm

Collaborative learning is a method of teaching and learning in which students team together to explore a significant question or create a meaningful project. A group of students discussing a lecture or students from different schools working together over the Internet on a shared assignment are both examples of collaborative learning.

Cooperative learning, which will be the primary focus of this workshop, is a specific kind of collaborative learning. In cooperative learning, students work together in small groups on a structured activity. They are individually accountable for their work, and the work of the group as a whole is also assessed. Cooperative groups work face-to-face and learn to work as a team

disagree  copheoske: I think a noun is called for here. Coperative learning session? Or workshop as in your last reference.

-> Yes, it could be 'session'. Typically (since you are new to these forums), peers use "neutral" for these kinds of comments and suggestions, and reserve "disagree" for answers that are deemed plain wrong.

neutral  solejnicz: It is incomplete, should indeed be "cooperative learning session" or something like that.
