Dutch term or phrase: Snuffelstage

Hi!

I'm translating a handbook about placements aimed at international students. I came across the following term and I don't know what to do with it...

Snuffelstage: the aim of this type of placement is to get acquainted with the branche of work in question, not necessarily to acquire competences. It's to give the person on placement an idea of what it's like to work (full-time, with colleagues, etc.) It's usually aimed at secondary school pupils who might, through a snuffelstage, get a better idea of what they would like to study next.

I can't add this entire description to the text. The only description the source text gives is: 'de student kijkt in de organisatie mee', which, I think, doesn't explain enough to leave the term untranslated.

Any ideas? :)

Het is voor schoolkinderen en in het Nederlands is er een speelse naam voor bedacht, ik zou zelf dat element er in laten. In de VS is de uitdrukking to get the hang of it speels en er is een nationale dag die iedereen kent die heet de take your daughter/son to work day ook is in het woord snuffelstage het woord werk niet genoemd, dat komt in de uitleg, dat hoeft er dus niet bij.
