Some young people in the Netherlands are exempt from compulsory education under the Leerplichtwet.

Vrijstelling volgens artikel 5 onder a van de leerplichtwet kan plaats vinden als een leerplichtige om lichamelijke of psychische redenen niet geschikt is om onderwijs te volgen.

Artikel 5 onder b van de Leerplichtwet betreft vrijstelling wegens bezwaar tegen de richting van elk onderwijs in de omgeving.

Sorry, no obvious way to add a note so I'm posting this message as an answer, as it may be useful for future reference. I've since heard from the client (herself an in-house translator), who had the following comment:

Although I don't have any strong objection to "religious or philosophical orientation" here, I have in the past used the phrase "denomination or
educational character" of a school.
