Explanation:
a multimeter can measure current, but to a limited extend. An ammeter (AC), galvano meter (DC) does it for larger amperages. The tool used by electricians is called a clamp on power meter - it is clamped over the cable where the current flows.

Clamp Meter


Explanation:
I at first would have guessed "Ammeter" since its a device measuring current flow, but after having seen what a stroomtang looks like from this URL:

I am pretty sure this is a simple Clamp Meter. Its similar to a multimeter in that it measures AC/DC current flow, but they are quite different.

agree  MoiraB: 4/04: DEFINITELY clamp meter. Doing a test translation on stroomtangen and stumbled across the orig. EN text (via Google) used as basis for the test translation! Stroomtangen=clamp meters. Can I resist temptation??
