Dutch to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Electronics / Elect Eng
Dutch term or phrase: baanvoedingen
From a Health and Safety regulations document.

Crane company.

Little context, all I have is that the delivery of the cranes will include the following:

1. Rigging of all hoists
2. Installatiion of all *baanvoedingen*
3. Installation of all circuit breakers etc etc

Obviously related to power supply but further than that ....

Thanks in advance

This is an educated guess.

PS: I certainly wouldn\'t use \'supply circuits\'. A power supply is much more than a circuit or even several circuits!

My quote below from the COD was based on a prior comment, which was apparently withdrawn more or less simultaneously with my response. Just for the record:

Don\'t really see that asker\'s latest info changes anything. I\'ve been thinking along this \'track\' all the time (see my note about educated guesses etc. below).

Wonders will never cease - finally some feedback and this translation was considered most appropriate. Many thanks to all and my apologies for the delay. Bye for now.

neutral  Fred ten Berge: What kind of track are you talking about?//According to asker's latest info ("voeding in the sense of power supply"), bigggest chance we're both on the wrong track! //Happily learning all the time. You're quite right: Should 've consulted Oxford etc.!

-> Concise Oxford Dict.: educated = based on experience or study (an educated guess). As for the kind of track, I'm talking about exactly the same tracks as you are. As for 'supplies', the context suggests electrical power supplies. Hence: 'track supplies'.

track provisions

Explanation:
Assuming we're talking about the tracks along which the cranes move. (presumably along a quay or railway)

To be more specific: I\'m considering the possibility asker\'s \"baan\" refers to rather wide railtracks along which cranes move, e.g. in docks of Singapore, London, Honkong, Antwerp and even Rotterdam.

Assuming, following latest info, that \"baanvoeding\" refers to power supply, a friend around here - a \'techneut\' who used to work for a couple of years in the UK - dared to suggest:

2. Installation of all provisions for power supply

Too simple for words?

Had another chat with with this friend. He\'s even more eager to hear the outcome than I am.
He suggested \'track FACILITIES\' might fit better in this context.
Final word from your \'opdrachtgever\' (<-- somehow seems different in connotation from \'client\') yet?
Noticing your current activities, no doubt you enjoyed your Azores holiday. Good for you!

agree  Jack den Haan: Agree in a semantic sense with your 'techneut'. But this would be a rather liberal translation. I would stick to 'track supplies' ...

-> Thanks Jack for your further comment.. We'll just have to wait and see. Even though I only voted 'liberal' occasionally on pragmatic grounds, I appear to have serious liberal sympathies, not just in linguistics - - -.
