Dutch to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Energy / Power Generation
Dutch term or phrase:stroomgroep
The original Dutch translation of the English read:
die alle producerende eenheden van de Generator omvat, samen met de aanvullende, beschermende, omvormende en andere aanverwante uitrusting
which was changed to:
WKK verwijst naar de warmtekoppelinginstallatie die op de Site moet worden geinstalleerd [...], die de gas stroomgroep en all toebehoren omvat, met inbegrip van het gebouw en de nutsaansluitingen.
The original English read: means the power station to be installed [...] at the Site [...] comprising all of the Generator's generating units together with the auxiliary, protective, transformation and other associated equipment.
Given this, I don't quite know how to translate 'de gas stroomgroep en alle toebehoren'.
Explanation: My first take is that 'stroomgroep' is analagous to the German 'Elektroaggregat', and in this case it is gas-powered. But since the English has 'generating units', perhaps it is supposed to mean 'stroomopwekkergroep'. All in all, not a wonderful choice of words, particularly given the usual meaning of 'groep' in the context of electrical installations. Invented words rarely increase clarity.
At least it will give the lawyers something to do if it comes to a dispute...

From the Belgian google hits for \'stroomgroep\' (lots of them!), I\'d say its a motor-generator set -- in this case gas-fueled (not petrol or diesel).
\'
By the way, as \'generating units\' was translated as \'producerende eenheiden\', it\'s hardly surprising that the Belgians chose different terminology.
see e.g.
Intermat - Elektra en elektrische gereedschappen
... Code, Omschrijving. 10501, Stroomgroep benzine 4,5 kva 220V-mono. 10502, Stroomgroep benzine 6 kva 220V-mono. 10503, Stroomgroep diesel 6 kva 220V-mono elektr. ... www.intermat.be/verhuur/elektra.htm
Sorry, my explanation was given on a Flemish-English question. There are two parties to a contract. The original (in English) was translated into Dutch. The Belgian party to the contract has made some changes, and I now have to translate the text BACK into English.
warmtekoppelingsinstallatie lijkt mij iets anders dan power station, b.v. een installatie voor de recovery van restwarmte van een proces (afhankelijk van de context). Heeft die te maken met het gasgestookte deel van het proces? Stroomgroep in dit verband?
I'm a bit confused - into English or into Dutch? "Dutch translation of the English"...
