Explanation:
I think you should perhaps shift your focus on terms.

I see "met een ploeg trekken" as ploughing or to plough / plow or scrape/rake using a plow/plough.

The "overdiepte" = the "overdepth" or "overdredge level" which indicates the amount of soil-/bottom-fracture that must occur in order to guarantee a particular grade (aka slope or side slope) in the dredging prism.

So, the sentence is saying that you can minimize the amount of work that the hopper dredger has to do by ploughing upslope material (or dredge material that sits above the "tolerance profile") into the overdepth or overdredge level.

The tolerance profile is similar to a line of regression and is sometimes called the "overdepth grade", or "dredging tolerance" (see: http://is.gd/TYndCN)

Explanation:
just finished translating bagger software written by Dutch people in English.

= area of ground with an (expected) overdredge level.

so i would do the sentence as follows : 'to minimalize the amount of hopper work by collecting the above tolerance profile dredge material in overdredge (level) areas.
