I've never come across this term before, but valauta is currency as far as I know. More context would be useful.

neutral  Dave Calderhead: but when does one talk about a currency year in tax or bookkeeping context? Foreign exchange rates are taken as at balance sheet date [fianncial year-end] or transaction date, depending on item concerned. Currency year does not exist in this context.

  -> presumably when valuing foreign currency values in a balance sheet, Dave, that's why more context would be useful. Financial year is usually referred to as 'boekjaar' I think
