Dutch term or phrase: kredietopslagen
Can't seem to find the exact term in English for this, despite having done a lot of research and reading on the topic......context is the following: Met een zwakke Amerikaanse economie en dollar, oplopend inflatiegevaar en oplopende **kredietopslagen** zijn correcties in de Europese aandelenmarkt niet uitgesloten, ondanks de redelijke waarderingen.
Could 'credit surcharges' be a possible translation?
TIA!

Explanation:
A tool for regulating inflation is to tighten the availability of money. Hence, the rising interest rates in order to discourage people from easily resorting to loans/credit.

If by "kredietopslag" is meant the extra provision of credit then this term gets an entirely different meaning:
My suggestion would be: "the tendency of banks allowing ever more credit"

for lack of any other answers, I've chosen this one - finally heard from the client - they prefer 'interest surcharges', which is more or less what your answer comes down to. Thanks for all your information Albert.

Example sentence(s):
  • Given the increasing inflationary trend the government is resorting to the well known monetary measure to tighten the supply of credit.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Hi Albert - the only problem is the rest of the text keeps referring to the Fed's lowering of the interest rates so I'm not sure how an increase or supplementary interest rates would fit in here......
