The text reads: "...in een rechtszaak bewijzen overlegd dat het niet eerder lucht uit zijn balans heeft laten lopen." Does this refer to omitting information? Never heard of this expression!

I've never heard of it before, either. However, it sounds like there's something missing from the balance sheet. Maybe the figures have been "deflated"?

Hoi!

Volgens mij gaat het hier over een bedrijf dat qua balans/boekhouding/resultaat tot dusver een goede/betrouwbare prestatie heeft geleverd, maar dat het in het geval dat aan de orde is in de rechtzaak niet het geval is.

En dat kan natuurlijk te maken hebben met over het hoofd gegroeide kosten, te lage omzet, te hoge investeringen, etc.

Lijkt me een plausibele verklaring.

Wij zeggen wel dat de lucht er uit is gelopen wanneer iets minder hard blijkt te zijn (bijv .bewijsstukken), maar ook wanneer iets minder actueel is geworden dan oorspronkelijk gedacht.

Jarry heeft natuurlijk gelijk als hij zegt dat kosten en omzet op zich de balans niet aantasten. Dat had ik me moeten bedenken, en weet ik ook. Daarentegen zijn er andere posten op een balans die gevoelig zijn, zoals een overgewaardeerde voorraad, goodwill, en weinig reële kijk op je debiteurentegoed. foutieve afschrijvingen, e.d.

In je notitie zie ik nu ook dat je \"creatieve boekhouding\" aanhaalt, en dan zijn o.a. juist diè posten van belang.

Dat was wat ik bedoelde, maar het is duidelijk dat Jarry wel de juiste vertaling heeft gevonden.
