We all know what it is but what's it called in English or is there no equivalent?
Any suggestions for translation welcome. TIA.

I would love to add 4 extra points for effort. I don't know if there's ever been a Kudoz question in Dutch where someone went out and bought something to confirm the answer. That's what I call really helpful! Many thanks to the other answerers.

ginger ale

Explanation:
Contents from one product: Carbonated water, wheat glucose-fructose syrup, sugar, citric acid, flavourings, colour sulphite ammonia caramel, preservative sodium benzoate.
Popular drink with children, parents horrified at first until they realise there's no alcohol in it. Has same suggestion of innocent naughtiness then as the Dutch product.

neutral  xxxjarry: Same 'innocent naughtiness' perhaps, but unlikely to have the same taste as Champagnepils. I would follow Johan's suggestion

-> Hm, depends on text: whether following J's solution is important in the context, or the flow of the text is more important. Kate...?

neutral  DutchConnection: This has got GOOD, HEALTHY ingredients in it, unlike cp, which is just flavoured, sweetened, carbonated water.

-> Just went to Albert Heijn and bought a bottle of this stuff. It is definitely NOT ginger ale, NOR root beer. It DEFINITELY tastes 100% of Dandelion & Burdock! And my wife agrees...
