Dutch to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Food & Dairy | | Dutch term or phrase: toegangssas | This is from a quality inspection document (Flemish) for a company producing meat products:
"Grote investeringen zijn in de laatste periode uitgevoerd aan de high-risk zone (toegangssas voor personeel, en ook voor grondstoffen), alsook herinrichting van meerdere productieruimten in deze zone"
Could someone help me with the English term for 'toegangssas'. Is this possibly a sort of inter-locked chamber one often sees at the entrance of banks? Here it would be used for disinfection purposes, I suppose.

The main entrance is close to the Plečnik's library. The view of his ecstatic architectural masterpiece enters deep into the interior of the new library through a large and curved glass wall, which is oriented towards NUK. The main entrance axis leads through the entire building connecting the entrance vestibule, the nucleus of public activities, with the internal part of the library, the central communication area and the large information centre. Between the external and internal part one can find the information and lending facilities as well as the textbook lending section.

Asker: Jack, thanks a lot for your input but I don't really find the links or references that relevant to the context of the document I'm translating. This 'toegangssas' is probably some sort of access control system so that incoming personnel and raw materials are disinfected before entry into a certain area. I'd just feel more confident if I could get a more relevant translation/reference!
Ron: No, I don't think its a typo. If you google the word, it does come up on quite a few sites.
Asker: Yes, I have actually..if I try this without quotes, then ‘Axis’ comes up as the name of a company. With quotes, ‘entrance axis’ seems to be an architectural or landscaping feature, whereas in this document it is used with reference to access control and safety. At least that is what I understand!

It's an entry to a building: a kind of cage with two doors. You have to get into the (glass) cage, the door behind you closes, and only then the door in front of you opens, so you can enter the actual building. (If you're toting a gun, the second door probably won't open :-)
I couldn't find what this is called in English, but the ref below has a nice picture.

I couldn't find anything on their English web site - drove me crazy. It's probably (certainly) a very simple term, but I don't know it and can't find it.
(The usual equivalent of "sluis/sas" would be "lock", but that cannot be used here for obvious reasons...)
I think you could apply the term you use for the personnel entrance to the other entrance for raw materials as well. They probably just want to prevent unauthorized entrance of people, not of hazardous raw materials (meats?)...

Asker: Yes, I know, that's exactly it. Its usually there in banks. I'd also seen the SGG site and pictures of those doors. But what could it be in English??! Especially in the context of raw materials and production areas. 'Access controlled chamber'??
Asker: Yes, I was also looking on their UK site but SGG unfortunately doesn't seem the make the same products there..! Now I'm just hoping some expert in this field sees this question and offers an answer.
