Dutch term or phrase: woorstenbroodje dicht
Just when I thought writeaway had solved the "saucijzenbroodje/woorstenbroodje"
conundrum by suggesting "frankfurter", I come across "woorstenbroodje open" and "woorstenbroodje dicht"

open-faced and ??? Would it be sort of like a pig-in-a-blanket, baked in dough?

pig-in-a-blanket
Explanation:
even though these are usually smaller than what I imagine a 'worstenbroodje dicht' to be, I can't think of another solution. And a worstenbroodje open would probably be............a hot dog! :) 0r frankfurter in a roll......I'm assuming this is for a menu for a 3-michelin star restaurant? :)

I just don\'t think it\'s easy (or necessary?) to translate all of these typically Dutch \'treats\' - maybe describe them in brackets afterwards?

agree  writeaway: the worstenbroodje is a frankfurter type thing- and this one would be pigs (hot dog) in a blanket. lekker hoor!

  -> maybe in Belgium.........;)

agree  Lucinda: Why don't you say "Jumbo Pig-in-a Blanket" Good luck! I'm of Dutch background but cannot stand these type of hot dogs.

  -> also a possibility

agree  Tina Vonhof: also called simply "sausage-on-a-bun".

  -> thanks

agree  Jacqueline van der Spek: het is een worstje met brooddeeg erom heen, daarna gebakken als een broodje.

worstenbroodje dicht

Explanation:
Worstenbroodje dicht is a bread roll which has been spiked down the centre and a sausage is pushed into it. The bread roll itself is not cut open. How you translate that, I just don't know, but it might help you differentiating the various ways of eating a sausage.

neutral  Jacqueline van der Spek: a worstenbroodje dicht is a sausage with dough all around it, baked in the oven
6 hrs

neutral  Kate Hudson: i have to sort of agree with Jacqueline. The filling of a worstenbroodje is actually a frankfurter type sausage as opposed to the seasoned minced meat filling shaped into a sausage which goes into a sausage roll. With w.d the sauasge filling is hidden
