Just to clarify Alexander, when I said Van Dale, I meant the N-N version, not N>E. And yes, it can be used as an adjective, but also as a noun and my answer involves it used as a noun

Actually the word is not listed in the VanDale, which means it is probably a transliteration from the English.

sounds like it's a word 'borrowed' from the French parentèle. In fact that is confirmed in the Van Dale (Dutch-Dutch). And the definition given is also the same as the French.
