Dutch term or phrase: grijpt de faculteit aan
Het najaar 2005 grijpt de faculteit aan zich te bezinnen op de bemensing van het systeem.

I'm not sure about the aangrijpen bit. I know that aangrijpen often means to seize/take advantage of, for example, to seize an opportunity, but I'm not sure if it means that here, particularly as there is no object (e.g. opportunity, chance) mentioned. Unless the najaar 2005 is itself the object. Perhaps the faculty is seizing (the opportunitity of) autumn 2005 to think about staffing issues for the system?

Could anyone kindly help me with this sentence please.
