Does it mean something like 'I'll go whereever I choose, wherever my preference takes me'? It seems to be a Belgian expression. |

The construction may be a bit complicated, but the meaning is really pretty straightforward. You could also say, "that's what I'd prefer", but if you already translate "liefst" as "preferably", that would be a bit repetative. |
