Dutch to English translations [PRO] Social Sciences - Government / Politics | | Dutch term or phrase: ontbinding | Stuck on what to use for ontbinding here. Text is about using administrative measures (in addition to law enforcement measures) to combat organised crime. The Netherlands and Italy are two countries that have embraced this policy.
Apparently, according to the author, "the Italian government can take strong measures and does so in practice too from time to time: when a town council is heavily infiltrated by a mafia group than it can and will remove that particular council and a new council has to be installed; so, perhaps removal is the best term here..." I'm not convinced about "removal" and my "abolition" seems too final. "Dissolution" doesn't ring my bell either. Any suggestions? |

| | disbanded / disbandonment - dissolution | Explanation: If "dissolution" or "abolition" don't work for you, then how about "disbanded"?

Oops! ** disbandment ** sorry about the typo! :-) |

| Grading comment Think I'll go with disbandment. In these particular circumstances,
where the council is being dissolved *from the outside* rather than by its members or officers, this may be a better option. Perhaps even expulsion. 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |
