Dutch to English translations [PRO] Social Sciences - Human Resources / personality assessment | | Dutch term or phrase: resultaatgedrevenheid | This is a category heading in a qualification assessment report for a job candidate. The possible direct translations I can think of don't ring many bells in English, but I must admit that I have a poor relationship with psychosociological terminology. (I'm thinking along the lines of 'motivation to achieve results', but maybe it's just a sexed-up version of 'result orientation').
FWIW, this is the censored version of the text below the heading:

| | results driven? | Explanation: The term exists, Kenneth, in leadership assessment contexts, but I'm not sure if this truly fits the bill here. HTH. Cheers, R.

Non-profit organisations also use the '(-)driven' descriptive. See http://www.purposedriven.com/en-US/AboutUs/About_PD_Homepage... |

| Grading comment This comes closest to what I used: 'drive for results' -- which is what the client used in some similar documents I translated a year or so ago (and had forgotten). 'Passion for results' would fit nicely in a self-help/success context, but IMO not so well here. 'Result orientation' ('result focus' to use the client's term) is also possible in the context, but IMO an orientation is not a strong as a drive (and I'm inclined to assume intentional use of specific terms). 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |

15 mins confidence: peer agreement (net): +2 result orientation
Explanation: Appears to be one of the seven habits needed to be successful. See ref. below.
The second habit you need to develop for success is result orientation. Result orientation is made up of two practices. The first is the practice of continuously learning, so that you become better at what you do. The second practice is that of time management, which means setting very clear priorities on what you do and then concentrating single-mindedly on the most valuable use of your time.
...
Every one of these habits — goal orientation, result orientation, action orientation, people orientation, health orientation, honesty orientation, and self-discipline — can be developed and must be developed for great success.

You'll also find that many employers are looking for "result-oriented" professionals to fill a vacancy.

Results-Oriented Job Descriptions - one of the most revolutionary ideas in human resources management - explain the job results you and your organization need to be successful. Don't waste your time with an old task-oriented job description style.
The way you write a job description helps employees understand why their actions are important. If you tell employees only what tasks they need to perform, they may stop before achieving the results you want them to accomplish. A Results-Oriented Job Description states the standard of success.
Our results-oriented job descriptions, far more than the traditional style, give employees a clear sense of their workplace's broader goals. Managers and HR professionals tell us we have a better mouse trap - a job description that makes accountability clear, invites participation in organization goals, and tells the "why" of work. It simply makes more sense.
