Bus/Financial - Human Resources / functiebeschrijving
Dutch term or phrase: inhoudelijk en procesmatig
het inhoudelijk en procesmatig begeleiden van (junior) medewerkers.

Ik heb gedacht aan "directly and indirectly", "actively and passively", maar vermoed dat er wel een meer specifieke manier moet bestaan om het uit te drukken. Wellicht weet één van jullie wel hoe het mooi onder woorden kan worden gebracht zonder terug te vallen in een letterlijke vertaling.

supervision and training
Explanation:
I think this is really best translated as "supervision and training" (of entry-level employees) and this refers to guidance in terms of contents (training) and functioning (process).

ps: els: content-wise.....? Mooi, perfect... weet ik niet, maar dat zegt het mi wel.

And in fact, both content-wise and process-wise are quite widely used words. Maybe that's another option here then. Just slightly unusual, but again, it depends on your entire translation.

content-rich and process-oriented

Explanation:
Inhoudelijk means the guidance must actually have substantial content and not just be general waffle. Procesmatig means that the guidance needs to be adjusted to the process, possibly staged to match the level of attainment of the junior staff. In other words, a specific type of guidance of an educational and graduated nature is meant.

content- and process-focused

Explanation:
Content- and process-focused guidance/management/supervision/leadership of (jr.) employees/staff (members). It might be a good idea to rewrite the phrase, ending up with something like this:

"[...] will focus on content and processes in his or her supervision of jr. staff members."

I don't believe 'inhoudelijk' means the guidance must actually have substantial content, I think it means that the guidance will be focused on the tasks of the junior staff at hand. The process part of the phrase is exactly the empty general waffle mentioned above.

of iets dergelijks. Tenminste, dat doe ik. Concerning/related/on/about e.d. zijn mijn andere varianten. Maar er komt een dag dat ik eindelijk één, mooi, perfect Engels woord voor 'inhoudelijk' tegenkom. Toch?

Asker: Your option comes much closer to what I'm going for. Thank you!

Asker: Or maybe, "supervision and training . . . in both content and process matters." (You may have noticed that this is really keeping me awake at night. :-)

agree  Tina Vonhof: Just two of those 'Dutchisms' that you don't need to translate. It is self-evident that training covers content and process.

  -> isn't language interesting...?! thanks

neutral  writeaway: agree that inhoudelijk and processmatig can't be translated literally, but imo this solution is too far away from the NL text.
7 hrs
-> what would be a better idea?

agree  Chris Hopley: I really like this - 'supervision' covers processes and procedures, while 'training' covers knowledge and skills (ie inhoud).
