Dutch term or phrase: verzuimgesprek
context:

neutral  philgoddard: I wonder if "interview" is a bit formal - it could just mean phoning the person, or calling them in to your office.

return-to-work interview

Explanation:
Return-to-work interviews do cut sickness absence rates

Two out of three employers believe that return-to-work interviews have cut employee absence rates, according to a study by Personnel Today's sister publication, Employment Review.

The survey of 182 organisations, which together employ 705,000 people, shows that return-to-work interviews are highly regarded by human resources practitioners working in public sector organisations and companies of all types and sizes.

http://www.personneltoday.com/articles/2007/10/15/42807/retu...

Effective return to work interviews reduce the future occurrence of absence. They can identify problems in the workplace or at home which impact on work and they show that an organisation is serious about attendance management. It is important that return to work interviews are conducted because they show staff that: you have noticed their absence; you are concerned about their absence; you want to help them improve their attendance record. They also help you monitor absence and spot trends. This training activity looks at what constitutes a good return to work interview and how to carry them out effectively. They are central to the process of attendance management and participants will derive real benefit from conducting the case study exercises.
