The rijksdiensten themselves translate 'Rijksdienst' with State Service. I know it's confusing for Americans, so if you are translating for the U.S. you might want to make it 'National', but personally I would stick with how the Rijksdiensten themselves say it. And in the U.S. 'public service' is definitely not it. Public service can be any government job, or in the case of 'public service announcement' it's used more as 'publieksvoorlichting.' So, again, I suppose it depends on which coungtry you're translating for. Or you could also describe it in parentheses, rather than try to find the exact translation, for instance (the national government entity responsible for ...) |
