It is a really useful site for quickly getting a rough idea about two possibilities. Also particularly interesting is the fact that you can scan through the various URLs and check if they are from .co.uk, .com, .de, .be, etc.

Yes, you are totally right: "new hire orientation" is commonly used, but only from a (general) HR perspective, not H&S. Vancouver is lovely- I am very happy to be here :-)

Come to think of it, I think you would commonly say "new hire orientation", but that's more likely to be the whole thing rather than just health and safety. Lucky you being in Canada. Many many thanks :-)

Aha! In that case I think perhaps orientation might be more common here in Canada. I recently chaired the committee for 7 years at a software company (full of hazards!! mind those paper cuts :-))

Thank Meirs and June - I am an ex HR consultant too, but in the UK, induction is more commonly used for ensuring that people know about health and safety in a new company. Where were you on an H&S committee? I've worked for a few oil companies, where H&S is paramount :-) We had to hold the rails to walk up and down steps, and I still do it now!
